Since the beginning of the war, the Kyiv Research and Design Institute "Energoproject" (JSC KIEP) has been working to build Ukraine's energy independence and create infrastructure protection projects. In 2023, KIEP celebrated its 90th anniversary. The company designs nuclear, thermal and renewable energy facilities in Ukraine. Its experience has gone down in the history of Ukrainian energy, and new initiatives will determine the development of the industry. As Ukraine refuses Russian nuclear fuel, builds its own energy independence and what role does KIEP play here.

After the start of the great war, Ukraine faced the task of finding an alternative to Russian nuclear fuel. Today, the institute is involved in the development of the construction project of a plant for the production of nuclear fuel for a nuclear power plant with VVER-1000 reactors using Westinghouse technology in Ukraine, which is being carried out by the national nuclear generating company “Energoatom”.
